A New York Times article “Lauren Ridloff’s Quiet Power: ‘My Life Has Changed in Every Way’” by Michael Paulson is targeted towards mainstream audience. The author wrote this article in order to demonstrate that while there are limitations that can be disabling such as deafness it does not completely stop them from achieving any accolades. Paulson is able to share this message by utilizing an example of successful person that is deaf and also by maintaining an inspirational and encouraging tone throughout the article.

It is essential to understand that the author uses pathos in order to invoke sympathy from the readers. The speaker proceeds to utilize an optimistic tone by sharing that the actress Lauren Ridloff is deaf and she was still able to partake a role in acting. The author includes such details in order to make sure the audience is able to respect and acknowledge the accolades of someone who society would often claim that is limited and held back by hearing limitations. It can be concluded that the author effectively utilizes a wide set of devices in order to evoke emotions out of her audiences and inspire those who feel limited by anything.

The novel “I Soon Will be Invincible” by Austin Grossman, is a novel based on super heroes and villains. Undoubtedly, the novel follows a different approach by the writing style of a novel instead of a traditional comic book. The writing style is able to highlight the authors ability of writing and story telling by demonstrating his versatility of constant change of perspective. Within this rhetorical analysis, there will be analysis done on this novel.

The writer Austin Grossman in “Soon I will be Invincible” chooses to change the narration of the study between characters. In chapter 2, the audience is informed about the addition of a character named Fatale, and the accident she had undergone. Such introduction of a character, allowed the author Grossman to tackle many issues faced by the character such as insecurities. The way the author constructs the story allows the writer to begin enhancing the way the story is told. Additionally, the author was very descriptive within the novel. These concepts such as “my cyborg half” utilized by the character Fatale was able to highlight the purpose of language and words that allowed the author to share his message across more effectively.
